From Smoke to Dignity

What does it take to feed hundreds of children every school day with no kitchen, no ventilation and open fires that fill the air with smoke? This documentary follows six school communities across Nyamira, Homabay, and Kisii Counties in Kenya through a transformative infrastructure project: the construction of five new school kitchen structures and the installation of energy-saving stoves that cut firewood consumption by two-thirds and reduced cooking time significantly. Told through the voices of school cooks, headteachers, parents, and students, FROM SMOKE TO DIGNITY is a story about dignity in essential work, the link between food security and children's education and what sustainability really looks like on the ground.
