The oil filter doesn’t lie. 👀 The DDE 720 GTR is on the rack in Cannonball Garage, and before tackling the list of known issues, Ivan performed one of the most important checks we do on every McLaren: cutting open the oil filter. ❌ What we found was concerning. After removing the excess oil and running a magnet across the filter media, he discovered a significant amount of metallic debris, including ferrous material. That means it could be coming from critical components such as the oil pump, cam phasers, finger followers or camshafts. The verdict? This car should not be started again until the engine comes out and we determine exactly what is happening internally. We’ve been tasked by Damon and the DDE team to go through this legendary 720 GTR, correct the problems and make it what it should be: reliable, fast and completely badass. ➡️ This is only the beginning.
