New York, NH & VT Fall Road Trip Day2 | Ferry Across Lake Champlain to Lake Placid & Mirror Lake

Day 2 of our fall road trip takes us across Lake Champlain into the breathtaking Adirondack Mountains of New York. Starting from Burlington, we head south to the Charlotte-Essex Ferry landing to board with our car. Standing on the open deck, we are treated to a rare, panoramic view of autumn foliage blanketing both Vermont's Green Mountains and New York's Adirondack Mountains across the shimmering waters. Our destination is the historic mountain town of Lake Placid, a two-time host of the Winter Olympic Games (1932 and 1980). Famous as the site of the legendary 1980 "Miracle on Ice," where the underdog U.S. men's ice hockey team made history, Lake Placid blends rich sports heritage with cozy alpine charm. After enjoying lunch and exploring the vibrant local shops along Main Street, we take a tranquil stroll along the Mirror Lake Footpath, admiring the brilliant fall colors reflected on the glass-like water. The foliage here in the Adirondacks rivals Vermont in every way, offering a grand and majestic autumnal scale. Heading back via Route 9N, we soak in continuous scenic views before crossing the impressive Lake Champlain Bridge back to our base in Burlington.
