Sewing a weave on my own head takes patience, technique, and a whole lot of feeling with my hands. In this video, I’m taking you through the process of installing my own sew-in weave—from placing the tracks to sewing each weft securely using a curved needle and professional-grade nylon thread. After years of doing hair professionally, I’ve learned to rely heavily on my hands. Since I can’t see everything I’m doing in the back, I use my fingers as my guide to feel my braid pattern, control my track placement, and keep everything secure. I’m also sharing some of the techniques I use behind the chair, including how I decide where to place my tracks, why I sew them close together when I want more fullness, and how the direction of the tracks helps determine the way the finished hairstyle falls.
