Paigah is a historic town in Dera Ghazi Khan district, located. Once home to several old houses and havelis, the town has witnessed the passage of time and the changes brought by history. Today, only one of these old havelis is believed to remain, and unfortunately, it is in a severely deteriorated condition.
In this vlog, Wasaib Explorer visits the historic haveli once owned by Malkhai Ram. Following the Partition of British India, the haveli was allotted to Dr. Abbas Ghuri, and it remains in the ownership of his family to this day.
On the invitation of our dear follower Mr. Muhammad Ajmal, the Wasaib Explorer team had the opportunity to visit this forgotten heritage house. Mr. Sultan Mehmood joined me on this memorable journey.
Dr. Kaleem Ghuri and Mr. Saleem Ghuri generously took us inside the historic haveli and shared the story of the house and its connection with the family of Malkhai Ram.
Interestingly, they told us that descendants of Malkhai Ram have visited their ancestral home twice after Partition and recalled memories associated with the house and their family's life in Paigah.
Today, the haveli is no longer in use and stands as a silent reminder of Paigah's multicultural past and architectural heritage.
We hope that this historic house can one day be restored and preserved as a heritage site so that history lovers, researchers and future generations can experience this important part of the region's shared history.
