A major controversy has emerged over recruitment in Pakistan Post during the tenure of former Federal Minister for Communications Maulana Asad Mahmood. According to the reported audit findings, four recruitment-related matters involved alleged financial irregularities totaling Rs 2.73 billion. The Establishment Division had reportedly authorized recruitment for 3,938 vacant positions, but 4,252 people were appointed—314 more than the approved number. Allegations were also raised during a Public Accounts Committee meeting regarding payments of Rs 1.5 million for government jobs, questionable documents, and recruitment procedures. The Public Accounts Committee has directed that the matter be referred to NAB for investigation. The report’s stated amount represents the combined irregularities flagged in four cases and should not be treated as personal receipts by any political leader or family. The investigation will determine whether the issues involved administrative negligence, violations of rules, or financial corruption. #PakistanPost #MaulanaAsadMahmood #RecruitmentScandal #NAB #pakistannews
