Studio Sessions: Duane Slick

In this Studio Session, artist Duane Slick reflects on how his Meskwaki and Ho-Chunk heritage informs his practice and relationship to landscape, memory, and cultural identity. Through abstract imagery, shifting stripes, and references to blankets, ceremonies, and the natural world, Slick’s work explores what he calls a “metaphysical economy”—a way of understanding value through relation, responsibility, and Indigenous ways of seeing.
