Sandeen here! S1E6 sends JB to a Virginia hunting manor, and I am delighted to report that the costume department rose magnificently to the occasion. Eight outfits, a SERIES FIRST that changes everything, and some of the most location-specific dressing we've seen in Season 1 so far. Langley Manor, Greenville, Virginia | Spring Outfit 1 — Cousin's hunting ride breakfast: Tan tweed pants suit, white collared shirt, tan ankle boots SERIES FIRST: first pants suit! Outfit 2 — Horseback riding hunt: Tan tweed jacket, white shirt, tan khakis, tan ankle boots, black riding cap, tan riding gloves Outfit 3 — Cottage on the manor: Burgundy bomber jacket, blue shirt, red paisley skirt Outfit 4 — Manor and lawyer's office: White shirt, tan jacket, tan and pink striped scarf, grey skirt Outfit 5 — Sheriff's office and manor: Blue striped shirt, navy jacket, paisley scarf, navy skirt, black flats Outfit 6 — Pott's Farm: Red jacket, blue jeans, blue shirt, tan ankle boots Outfit 7 — Courtroom: Blue bow shirt with white collar, navy sweater vest, navy skirt, gold chain necklace, navy heels Outfit 8 — Stables and manor: Burgundy bomber jacket, blue shirt, red paisley skirt, with black flats (the based outfit is the same as Outfit 3) Case Notes: Outfit 1 — The first pants suit in the series! This is a big one. The tan tweed pants suit with a white collared shirt and tan ankle boots is the first pants suit Jessica Fletcher wears in the entire series. Given the 1984 setting and the Virginia hunt country location, a tweed pants suit is such a perfect wardrobe choice — it reads as confident, country-weekend appropriate, and quietly powerful. The matching Outfit 2 (horseback riding hunt) transitions the same tweed jacket into a full equestrian look with a black riding cap and tan gloves. Costume continuity and location logic working hand in hand. Outfit 3 & 8 — The burgundy bomber jacket repeat: The burgundy bomber jacket with blue shirt and red paisley skirt appears at the cottage and returns at the stables — same base outfit, different shoes (flats noted for Outfit 8). Again, that very grounded, realistic layering approach we first noticed in S1E3. Outfit 7 — Courtroom: The gold chain necklace (introduced in S1E5!) makes a return here for the courtroom scene, paired with a navy sweater vest and blue bow shirt. Already establishing itself as her more formal accessory choice. The navy skirt suit energy for a courtroom is exactly right. Anyone else loving how intentional the accessory choices feel this season? #MurderSheWrote #JessicaFletcher #MSWFashion #VintageFashion #80sFashion #FashionHistory #ClassicTV #RetroStyle #StyleArchive #WardrobeWatch #TVFashion #CostumeDesign #VintageStyle #80sTV #FashionAnalysis
