What happens when an opportunity meets determination? For many members of Goa’s tribal community, the journey towards self-reliance begins with an idea, a dream, and the right support. The Goa Tribal Employment Generation Programme (GTEGP), a welfare initiative of the Government of Goa, provides financial assistance and subsidies to help eligible educated unemployed tribal individuals turn their ideas into micro and small businesses. Implemented by EDC Limited and the Goa State Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation Ltd., with support from the Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce (DITC), the scheme aims to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship among eligible tribal community members aged 18 to 45 years.
