New record: • [Former World Record] Pokémon Mystery Dung...
Short backstory: As my first run of the Wondermail category I decided to do a meme run with Charmander and Cubone. However, that run ended up getting the Rare Quality Lonely Courage and finishing in 2:54:51. That made me realize how broken of a Rare Quality that is, so I decided to start grinding out resets for either Lonely Courage or Thrown Item Boost, which are basically the only rare qualities that will definitely save time over doing the run with no Rare Qualities at all.
Later that day, only a couple resets later, I managed to get BOTH Lonely Courage and Thrown Item Boost. Basically the best combination one could hope for. At that moment I actually had to start caring about the run.
Being able to one-shot enemies with spikes is huge and is the reason why I saved so much time. I really felt invincible for most of the run until Magma Cavern, but at that point I had more than enough Reviver Seeds to carry me through the rest of the run.
This is also my first run to implement the new strategy I discovered where you fill your job list with missions to prevent fainted Pokémon from spawning in dungeons, saving roughly 5 seconds per floor where that would otherwise happen.
I felt like my stairs luck was below average. Luckily it didn't matter too much when you can explore entire floors in seconds regardless. I also ran out of Spikes at Sky Tower, which is partly the reason why that's the single split with the most time save. In future runs I would probably enter one more code for them to prevent that from happening.
