Melanie Martinez - Red Velvet Knives (Fm Song)

RED VELVET KNIVES [Verse 1] They dressed the city up in red, Hung little banners overhead. "Everything is safe," they said, While counting names beside the dead. Mother used to comb my hair, Hum little songs into the air. Then one morning, Father's chair Was empty... hers was missing there. [Pre-Chorus] Cut the cake and pass it round, Don't ask what's beneath the ground. Sweet little song, sweet little lie, Everybody wave goodbye. [Chorus] Cut it, cut it, cut it clean, Smile like nothing happened here. Hide it, hide it, hide it well, Nobody can ever tell. Cut it, cut it, cut it clean, Keep your pretty little scene. Hide it, hide it, don't ask why... Say hello to red velvet knives. [Verse 2] Father says the house is clean, Nothing happened in between. Mother's coat is still downstairs, But nobody asks why it's there. Every screen repeats his voice, Telling us we made the choice. Every word comes soft and sweet, Every truth stays underneath. [Bridge] They changed the locks. They changed the sheets. They took her picture from the street. They told me, "Darling, don't be sad. Your father only did what's best." The screens go bright. The speakers hum. I hear his voice say, "Here I come." I close my eyes. I count to five. And hear my mother's voice outside. [Final Pre-Chorus] Cut it, cut it, cut it clean, Smile like nothing happened here. Hide it, hide it, hide it well... Maybe I can break the spell. [Final Chorus] Cut it, cut it, cut it clean, Smile like nothing happened here. Hide it, hide it, hide it well, Nobody can ever tell. Cut it, cut it, cut it clean, Keep your pretty little scene. Hide it, hide it, don't ask why... Say hello to red velvet knives. #crybaby #hades #mm5 #unreleased #music #melaniemartinezcrybaby #mm4 #leak
