EA Abandoned Need For Speed, But The Community Didn't... | Heatwarped

The year is 2004... And while I don't really care about most of what happened that year, racing fans got something that actually mattered... Need for Speed Underground 2. And ever since then, we've been waiting for Need for Speed Underground 3. It's been over 20 years, EA. At this point, we've accepted that it's probably never happening... so when some random studio shows up and says, "Fine, I'll do it myself," you already know I'm interested. Enter Heatwarped. A game that looks, feels, and sounds like the Need for Speed Underground 3 we've been waiting for, complete with that early-2000s street racing atmosphere that modern Need for Speed games just haven't been able to replicate. And somehow, a random studio managed to capture the magic of Black Box's Underground era better than EA has in decades. I played the Heatwarped demo on Steam, and honestly... I had an absolute blast. It genuinely feels like stepping back into the early 2000s, from the atmosphere and customization to the soundtrack and overall presentation. It's not perfect though. The biggest issues I have right now are the floaty handling, heavy understeer, strange obstacle physics, high-speed twitching, and the infamous "Death Wobble" when using nitrous at top speed. But even with those problems... This might genuinely be the closest thing we've gotten to Underground 3. So today, we're taking a look at Heatwarped, the spiritual successor to Need for Speed Underground 2, and finding out whether this indie racing game can actually bring back the magic that EA seems to have forgotten. And honestly... I just want more of it.
