𝗗𝘄𝗮𝘆𝗻𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 presents “The Language of Light: Bridging Technical Expertise and Urban Experience“ for the Light Talks in Tallinn 2025 seminar. ••• Dwayne Waggoner is an architectural lighting designer with more than a decade of international experience spanning lighting design, education and the lighting industry. He earned a B.Sc. in Engineering Technology from California Polytechnic State University in 2008 and a M.A. in Architectural Lighting Design from Hochschule Wismar Germany in 2013. His professional career has included roles at Lichtvision in Berlin and XAL in Graz, where he combined design practice with technical innovation across a wide range of architectural lighting projects. Since 2020, Waggoner has served as Head of Lighting Applications and Culture at Selux in Berlin, leading an international team that supports lighting planning, product development, visualization and education. His work places particular emphasis on the relationship between lighting design, technology and the environmental responsibilities of exterior lighting, helping bridge the gap between design intent and practical implementation. Alongside his professional practice, Waggoner has taught in the Master's programme in Architectural Lighting Design at Hochschule Wismar for more than a decade. His research explores the language of lighting design and how the terminology used within the profession shapes communication, education and design thinking. Through teaching, lectures and international collaborations, he continues to promote a thoughtful and interdisciplinary approach to lighting, encouraging designers to see light not only as a technical solution but also as a cultural and communicative medium. ••• Light Talks in Tallinn is an annual architectural lighting design seminar held in Tallinn and organized by the Estonian Association of Lighting Designers (EVDA) since 2024.
