Search and Rescue teams in Appalachia are trained to trust GPS, satellite beacons, and tracking data.
But sometimes the map shows something it shouldn’t.
During a search in the Pisgah National Forest, Matt Keller and his partner recover a missing hiker’s beacon and begin following her trail through the mountains.
Then the GPS starts showing movement that doesn’t match the person carrying the device.
The second track follows their exact route.
Every turn.
Every stop.
Always several minutes behind.
And the deeper they go into the forest, the more it begins to look like the hiker they were searching for is still walking with them.
A realistic Appalachian wilderness horror story about Search and Rescue, missing hikers, GPS tracking, satellite beacons, and the strange things that sometimes follow rescuers out of the mountains.
