Welcome to Living With… a new YouTube series presented by Hypersomnia Foundation. In this episode, Claire Wylds-Wright, CEO of Hypersomnia Foundation, sits down with Dr. Lynne Marie Trotti, Associate Professor of Neurology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and is on the medical advisory board for Hypersomnia Foundation. Dr. Trotti is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She graduated from Baylor College of Medicine and completed her neurology residency, sleep fellowship, and Masters of Science in Clinical Research at Emory. Her main area of clinical and research interest is the central disorders of hypersomnolence. Dr. Trotti is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Foundation as the principal investigator of two clinical trials investigating treatments for hypersomnolence. In this episode, Claire and Dr. Trotti discuss why she came to become a sleep researcher and clinical. Dr. Trotti shares current treatment methods and medication for managing symptoms of idiopathic hypersomnia. They also deep-dive into a discussion of the tricky relationship between IH and comorbidities, specifically mental health conditions. Dr. Trotti addresses depression, anxiety, and chronic fatigue. She also shares current clinical trials she is managing that focus on idiopathic hypersomnia. We are extremely grateful for Dr. Trotti's generosity in her research and patient care. We are excited to continue to partner with her as she works to find the cause of IH and also better the quality of life for people who live with idiopathic hypersomnia.
