The familiar row of planets gives us an inventory, but very little sense of the space around them. Follow a calibrated light clock from the inner planets through the Kuiper Belt, Voyager’s measured plasma crossings and the much more distant comet reservoir inferred from returning visitors. Along the way, Venus transits, radar echoes, spacecraft encounters and comet orbits show how astronomers turned a sky full of moving points into a map with several different edges.
In this calm, long-form science documentary, we explore the Solar System’s true scale and the evidence behind its boundaries. The Oort Cloud is an inferred population, its extent is uncertain, and the heliopause is a plasma interface rather than the place where the Sun’s gravity stops. From New Horizons to interstellar visitors and Rubin’s survey, each observation helps explain what belongs on the map and what remains unknown.
