Once a thriving retail destination in the 90s and early 2000s, this three-story mall was the go-to spot for everything—from back-to-school shopping to food court hangouts and arcade fun. Now, in 2025, like many malls across America, Emerald Square faces the harsh reality of retail decline. Once packed with major department stores like Sears, Filene's, and Lechmere, the mall now struggles with empty storefronts, reduced foot traffic, and a fading sense of what once made it special. If you grew up in the 90s or early 2000s, you probably remember the golden era of mall culture—Spencer’s, KB Toys, Sam Goody, and the scent of pretzels and Cinnabon in the air. In this video, we explore what’s left, compare it to what I remember from the past, and reflect on why malls like this are slowly disappearing. 🔹 Do you have memories of Emerald Square Mall?
