Welcome back to Part 2 of our Speech vs. Language series! In Part 1, we explored the SPEECH side of speech-language pathology. Now it's time to dive into the LANGUAGE side! Did you know that language is about so much more than just talking? Language involves how we understand and express ourselves within our everyday lives! In today's video, we're breaking down the areas of language that speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work with: 🧠 Receptive Language: How we UNDERSTAND language, including following directions, answering questions, understanding vocabulary, and processing what others say. 💬 Expressive Language: How we USE language to communicate our thoughts, needs, and ideas, including vocabulary, sentence formation, grammar, and storytelling. ✨ Why does this matter? Language challenges aren't always obvious! Someone may speak clearly but still struggle to understand directions, express their thoughts, or navigate social conversations. That's why speech-language pathologists do SO much more than help people pronounce sounds correctly! Whether you're a parent, teacher, healthcare professional, aspiring SLP, or just curious about communication, this video will help you better understand the LANGUAGE side of speech therapy! 💬 Join the conversation! Did you know there were three different areas of language? Which one surprised you the most?
