Hello, and welcome to Crafty Landing.
Today, I have a tutorial on how to create a rather lovely birdcage table decoration. I have used this year's Christmas papers from Rachel's kit, but it would look just as delightful made out of any pretty papers.
You'll find all the instructions for making this lovely birdcage towards the end of the description box.
First, a little message from Rachel:

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE BIRDCAGE:
*You need x3 circles using card - 3" circle, 1" circle and 3/4" circle, each covered with paper
BIRDCAGE BASE
*You need x2 strips of full length (A4 landscape) paper, approximately 1.5" (4cm) wide
*Back them for stability and fold each strip in half longways
*Glue ends to make one long strip
*Cut snips up to the fold line
*Then cut off alternate piece (every other one)
*Now wrap around the 3" circle and put a mark to show the length needed (there will be some overlap which will be glued, but not yet)
BIRDCAGE BARS
*You need x8 strips of full length (landscape) paper, approximately 1" wide
*And x8 strips of full length (landscape) paper, approximately 3/4" wide
*Glue 3/4" strips onto 1" strips
*Cut one end of every strip into a point (arrow)
*Lay down length of strip needed to wrap around the 3" circle, and locate the mark you made
*Place the x8 strips vertically along it with the points facing upward and approximately equal distance apart. The last strip should not go beyond your mark
*Now clearly mark the position of each vertical strip (this is to show where to glue them)
ASSEMBLING BIRDCAGE
*Carefully glue the length of strip around the 3" circle
*Now glue each vertical strip in place where you marked them
*Using a ruler draw 4 lines on the 1" circle (like the eight points of a compass)
*Gather the pointed ends towards the centre of the circle.
*Glue opposite points onto the circle until each one has been glued
*You may need a clip or peg to hold them in position until the glue is dry
BIRDCAGE HANDLE
*You need a strip of full length (landscape) paper 2" wide
*Fold in half and glue for stability
*Gently curve the ends around to meet (this becomes a handle shape)
*If the handle is too long, let go of ends and cut to desired length
*Cut a slit into the 3/4" circle to allow the handle ends to go through
*Glue ends to underside of circle
*Then glue circle onto top of cage
*Decorate with fussy cuts. ribbon, lace, gems - anything you like!
Thank you.
Enjoy your day, Love Marie
