Melodic Math - Stacking Hooks

This is a video I made for the students in my course, "Melodic Math - Uncovering the Max Martin Toolbox" ( https://www.top40theory.com/melodic-m... ) In this video I use the song "I Wanna Go" by Britney Spears to show how Max Martin and his collaborators, Savan Kotecha and Shellback, not only construct extremely potent hooks but they 'stack' various hooking techniques to supercharge the effectiveness of these hooks. They use a space filler in the prechorus, give it a melodic preview in the verse to prime the listener to latch on to said space filler, 'plant' notes at the end of the chorus that turn into an echo of the same hook, and use a simple but interesting pattern to hook the listener in the body of the chorus.
