We're back In Kenai Alaska September 2026

After a four month adventure across Alaska we're back in Kenai for a couple of weeks and then it's back to the Beautiful and peaceful Kilcher Homestead for the Winter... We traveled to Whittier and took the Ferry to Valdez where we spent a month and a half exploring around Valdez. Then we traveled the Richardson Highway to Fairbanks, boondocking along the way. While in Fairbanks we ventured out the Steese Highway. We then headed back to the Richardson Highway to the Old Denali Highway with more boondocking along the way. Our next destination was to the Denali National Park for our seven nights stay. Three nights in Teklanika, two nights in Riley Creek and two nights in Savage River.. All the campgrounds were awesome!! I highly recommend all of them. Once we finished our stay in the National Park we headed back towards Kenai where we stayed for two weeks before making our way back to Homer. It was an awesome adventure on a tight budget. We only paid for the nights in the National Park and momma used her America The Beautiful Senior Park Pass to receive 1/2 price for the week there. The rest of the adventure was spent boondocking in spots I found along the way.. I used the Milepost book to find legal free camping areas. Expensive fuel and a few splurge meals were our only expenses besides our daily food stock we bought before we left.. We enjoyed every second of the adventure.
