Two hours on a tropical beach, from golden hour to the first stars. The sun stands low over the sea, left of the anchored sailboat, and lays a glittering path across the water. After an hour it touches the horizon, flattened by the air, and sinks for about ten minutes. If you watch closely, its last rim flashes green. Then the high clouds glow coral and orange, the blue hour comes, and a thin crescent moon appears with the first stars. One by one the lights come on: the anchor light, the huts on the jetty, the cabin of the boat. Warm drones, singing bowls and the waves settle slowly as the evening falls. No AI-generated music, no looped clips, no stock footage, and no recorded sound: even the waves are synthesized live. Everything is played live by Frequency, a sound and light engine I designed. Each wave is announced to the picture about twelve seconds before it breaks, so you see it break the moment you hear it. The bay has a real place and date, 10° north in early November, so the sun sets exactly where the crescent moon goes down in Night Beach. Part of "A Day on the Beach": four two-hour sessions in the same bay, from sunrise to night. Sunset Beach ends where Night Beach begins.
