Delhi's Madhuban Chowk is getting a very unique pedestrian infrastructure project — a double-decker Foot Over Bridge (FOB) that will provide direct interchange between the Red Line and Magenta Line of Delhi Metro. Madhuban Chowk, earlier associated with the Pitampura Metro Station, is one of the busiest junctions in North-West Delhi. The location connects the Outer Ring Road with Bhagwan Mahaveer Marg and Lala Jagat Narayan Marg and experiences heavy traffic and pedestrian movement. With the opening of the Majlis Park–Deepali Chowk extension of the Magenta Line in March 2026, Madhuban Chowk became an important interchange point between the Red Line and Magenta Line. However, the two stations initially did not have a direct internal interchange. Passengers had to exit the metro station, walk outside and cross the busy Madhuban Chowk intersection to reach the other line. To solve this problem, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is constructing a specially designed double-decker FOB. The main interchange FOB is approximately 182.7 metres long and will connect the paid areas of the Red Line and Magenta Line stations. Once completed, passengers will be able to transfer between the two metro lines without leaving the paid area and without crossing the busy road junction. But that is not the only pedestrian bridge being constructed here. A second FOB of approximately 173.2 metres is also being developed to provide connectivity between the metro stations and the Rohini Courts complex. This additional pedestrian connection will make it easier for commuters, lawyers, visitors and staff to travel between the metro station and the court complex. The project is particularly challenging because construction is taking place directly around one of Delhi's busiest road intersections, while the existing metro infrastructure and heavy traffic have to remain operational. According to reports, the main interchange FOB and associated pedestrian connectivity were expected to be completed around September 2026. In this video, we take a detailed look at the construction of the Madhuban Chowk Double-Decker Foot Over Bridge, its design, how the two levels will function, how it will connect the Red and Magenta Lines, its connection towards Rohini Courts, and how this project could transform pedestrian movement and metro interchange at one of Delhi's busiest junctions. Location: Madhuban Chowk, Pitampura, Delhi Metro Lines: Red Line & Magenta Line Main Interchange FOB: Approx. 182.7 metres Rohini Courts FOB: Approx. 173.2 metres Agency: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Expected completion: Around September 2026, as per current reports Watch the complete video to understand why this seemingly simple Foot Over Bridge is actually a fascinating piece of urban infrastructure.
