Welcome back! Today’s Masterboard Monday didn’t go exactly as planned, as usual. It took a major turn and became an experiment. I love the results though. I started out with a specific project in mind, but the creative process took a total "left turn" into a messy, grungy, and highly successful experiment. I’m using some unique materials today—my favorite old yachting charts! These captains' charts have such a great weight and history to them, making them the perfect base for an aged, "dirty" paper look. We're playing with gesso, distress inks, and even some unexpected sanding techniques to create layers of texture and that beautiful crackle effect. In this video, you’ll see: How I prep unique papers like maps and charts with gesso. My experiment with crackle medium vs. simple tacky glue. Creating authentic "coffee ring" stains and grungy drips. A labor-intensive (but so worth it!) sanding technique for incredible texture. A Note on My Schedule: I’ve had a few questions about how these videos work! Usually, we create the Masterboard on Monday (Process) and then use those boards to create a Finished Project on Thursday. This way, we can focus on the play and exploration first!
