You can be perfectly fine with your life on Monday, then see someone your age buying a house on Tuesday and suddenly question everything you've done. Same job. Same goals. Same progress you were proud of yesterday. But now, it feels like you're late. That's the strange thing about comparison. Someone else's progress can make you question a life you were perfectly happy living. You see the promotion, the designer clothes, the expensive watches, the lifestyle. You see where they are, but not everything that got them there. Yet somehow, their achievements become evidence that you aren't doing enough. Psychologist Leon Festinger explored this tendency in his 1954 social comparison theory. But understa g why we compare ourselves is only part or the problem. The real question is: when did someone else's life become the standard for yours? Because while you're busy checking how far everyone else has gone, you can spend years overlooking the life you're actually building. And one day, you might look back and realise you weren't necessarily falling behind. You were just too busy looking sideways to notice your own direction. Your life didn't get smaller. Your measuring stick just changed. #psychology #socialcomparison #comparison
