The Comfort We Receive (Christian Rock)

I wrote “The Comfort We Receive” in 1992, inspired by 2 Corinthians 1:3–4. After waiting 34 years to be heard, the song finally came to life—and somehow became Christian rock instead of country! Perhaps it was simply waiting for the right sound. (and critics Dustin, Shelly, Christian haha) When disaster strikes and the world around us begins to shake, we often discover how much we truly need God. He meets us in our suffering, comforts us through every shadow and flame, and gives us the strength to rise again. But the comfort God gives us is not meant for us alone. He equips us to reach out to the hurting, encourage the broken, and freely share the same compassion He has shown us. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.” —2 Corinthians 1:3–4 May this song remind us to keep our eyes on Jesus, allow His Spirit to lead us, and shine His light through the troubles of today.
