In decades past, the mu‘umu‘u was seen everywhere on the islands, adorning women of all ages. For a variety of reasons, the unmistakably Hawaiian garment fell out of style and everyday use. Meet the wāhine who have created a movement or “mu‘u-vement” to bring the beloved gown back into the forefront of Hawaiian culture and fashion.
