AI For African Centered Research Week 4 Session 4

This was the final session for Engineer Martin on the AI for Africa Centered Research course conducted by Sankofa Research and Mentorship Hub. The session focused on AI-supported writing and research defense strategies, with facilitator Martin guiding participants through proper use of tools like NotebookLM and ChatGPT for evidence verification, citation checking, and examiner-mode critique. Participants Liz and Marita shared their experiences completing the week's assignment, which involved analyzing peer-reviewed documents and generating research topics, with both reporting challenges but also valuable learning outcomes. Martin demonstrated the proper workflow using different AI platforms for various research tasks and emphasized that AI should support researchers rather than replace their original thinking and responsibility. The session concluded with an introduction from Ernest, who will be taking over the next phase of the course, announcing upcoming instruction on Python programming languages and their relationship to data analysis and AI tools.
