BBO Harps captures three concert harps performing together as an ensemble. Rather than playing every note of a harp part yourself, you choose a key and scale and trigger recorded performances: sweeping glissandi, chords, arpeggios, bisbigliando, free textures and more. In this introduction, Vincent starts with the same glissando performed in three different ways: ➤ playing the notes directly with Synchron Harp ➤ triggering a recorded single-harp glissando ➤ hearing three harpists perform the gesture together with BBO Harps Then things get bigger. Each of the three harps has its own close microphone, so Vincent builds the sound from one player to two, then all three, before adding the sound of the room. And three harps can do more than simply make a bigger sound. A concert harp has seven strings per octave rather than twelve, which means a single harp cannot perform a fully chromatic glissando. With three harpists sharing the notes, BBO Harps can.
