Dramatic Turn In Flydubai Terror Probe; UAE Detains 2 Maldivian Pilots Over Links With Omani Suspect

The Flydubai terror probe has taken a dramatic turn. Two Maldivian pilots employed by the airline were detained in the UAE after the September 30 cockpit attack on Indian Captain Smit Machchhar. The suspect, Omani co-pilot Hammam al-Hammami, allegedly attacked Machchhar during a Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight and tried to take control of the aircraft. UAE investigators say he had extremist views, studied earlier Tel Aviv flights and planned a 9/11-inspired attack on Ben Gurion Airport. They also say he confessed to acting alone. Yet the detention of two colleagues has raised fresh questions about his contacts, communications and possible support network. The UAE has not released details of the allegations against the Maldivian pilots. India’s NIA is separately investigating the incident under the Anti-Hijacking Act and UAPA. Facts remain unclear. For now, the case is a widening investigation, not a proven conspiracy. The unanswered question is simple: who else knew? #flydubai #flydubaifz1073 #smitmachchhar #uae #maldives #oman #terrorplot #hijackattempt #aviationsecurity #terrorism #nia #israel #timesaxis #toi AXIS is where the world is explained through India’s lens.
