চন্দননগর বলতেই আমাদের চোখের সামনে ভেসে ওঠে জগদ্ধাত্রী পুজোর আলোকমালা আর ফরাসি উপনিবেশের ঐতিহাসিক স্থাপত্য। কিন্তু এই পরিচিত ছবির বাইরেও চন্দননগরের বুকে লুকিয়ে রয়েছে আরও এক সমৃদ্ধ ইতিহাস — বনেদি বাড়ির বহু প্রাচীন দুর্গাপুজোর ঐতিহ্য। সময়ের স্রোত পেরিয়ে আজও যেসব পুজো বহন করে চলেছে পূর্বপুরুষদের স্মৃতি, পারিবারিক পরম্পরা, আচার-অনুষ্ঠান এবং বাংলার নিজস্ব সংস্কৃতির উত্তরাধিকার, এই তথ্যচিত্র সেই অচেনা পরিচয়েরই এক ছোট্ট অনুসন্ধান। এই ছবির মধ্য দিয়ে চন্দননগরকে দেখার চেষ্টা করেছি এক অন্য দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে। জগদ্ধাত্রী পুজো আর ফরাসি স্থাপত্যের পরিচিত গণ্ডি পেরিয়ে, বনেদি বাড়ির দুর্গাপুজোর হাত ধরে ফিরে দেখার চেষ্টা করেছি শহরের শিকড়, ইতিহাস আর ঐতিহ্যকে। কারণ, চন্দননগর শুধু জগদ্ধাত্রী পুজো আর ফরাসি উপনিবেশের শহর নয়; চন্দননগর বনেদিয়ানা, স্মৃতি আর বহু প্রজন্মের বয়ে আনা ঐতিহ্যেরও শহর। এই হারিয়ে যেতে বসা বা আড়ালে থেকে যাওয়া ঐতিহ্যের গল্প আপনাদের কাছে পৌঁছে দেওয়াই এই প্রয়াস। When we think of Chandannagar, two things often come to mind: the spectacular celebrations of Jagaddhatri Puja and the city's French colonial heritage. But there is another side to Chandannagar that deserves to be discovered — the age-old Durga Puja traditions of its ancestral aristocratic Bengali households, known as Bonedi Barir Pujo. Passed down through generations, these pujas preserve the memories of our ancestors, family traditions, age-old rituals, and the cultural heritage of Bengal.
