Ahmad Black Gets Real About Greg Schiano, NIL, Florida & His Buccaneers Days

Former Florida Gators national champion and Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Ahmad Black joins the Buccaneers Breakdown Show for a wide-open conversation about college football, the NFL, Buccaneers history and life after the game. Ahmad takes us back to his days at the University of Florida, explains why he chose the Gators, what made that championship team special and why earning his degree remains one of the accomplishments he’s most proud of. We get into the current state of college football, including NIL, the transfer portal and how the culture has changed from building a program over several years to players moving from school to school. Ahmad also explains why protecting the Florida Gators brand meant so much during his time in Gainesville. Then we get into some Buccaneers stories. Ahmad talks about entering the NFL during the 2011 lockout, signing his first contract, playing alongside guys like Ronde Barber, Aqib Talib and LeGarrette Blount, and what the locker room was really like during the Raheem Morris and Greg Schiano eras in Tampa. He also opens up about Schiano’s coaching style, the infamous end-of-game kneel-down controversy, why he believes Raheem Morris deserved more time in Tampa and some of the wild trash talk he heard during his NFL career — including an encounter with Jimmy Graham that ended with a very expensive fine. And of course, we get away from football too. Ahmad talks hip-hop, Nipsey Hussle, Jeezy, Lil Wayne, Plies, Ice Cube, Lorde, old-school Jordans, classic Cadillacs and his favorite Buccaneers uniforms. This one is football stories, Gator pride, Buccaneers history, music, cars and plenty of laughs with Ahmad Black.
