I Walked Through the Streets of Uttan… and Got LOST 😂 | Mumbai's Coastal Villages 🌴

What happens when you decide to simply WALK through Uttan? 🚶‍♂️🌴 Come with me as I take a long walk through the streets, villages, markets and coastal areas of Uttan, Mumbai, starting at Our Lady of the Sea Church and making our way towards Patan Bunder, before eventually finding our way back to the church. This isn't a typical tourist tour. It's simply Uttan as I experienced it — the streets, the people, the markets, the chapels, the bunders, old friends, random conversations, unexpected moments… and yes, even getting completely lost along the way! 😂 We begin at Our Lady of the Sea Church and walk through Navghar, Uttan Market, Navikhadi, Karaipada and Patan Bunder, eventually reaching Infant Jesus Chapel. Along the way, we meet friends, old acquaintances, altar servers, confirmation students and people from the villages. And because this is Uttan… there are plenty of unexpected moments too. 😄 At one point, I even got distracted by a CRAB and seriously wanted to eat it. 🦀😂 🌴 WALKING THROUGH UTTAN Uttan is one of those places where walking around can reveal things you might completely miss while travelling by car or bike. You see the little streets. The market. The houses. The chapels. The people sitting outside. The fishermen and coastal communities. The old friends you haven't seen in a while. And the everyday life that makes Uttan what it is. This video is my attempt to capture some of that. ⛪ FROM OUR LADY OF THE SEA TO INFANT JESUS CHAPEL We begin at Our Lady of the Sea Church and eventually make our way towards Patan Bunder, passing through several parts of Uttan along the way. We also visit Infant Jesus Chapel before continuing our walk through Patan Bunder. And then... I got lost. 😂 So what should have been a straightforward walk became a much longer adventure. Eventually, we find ourselves back around the same areas and continue walking. ❤️ THE PEOPLE OF UTTAN One of my favourite parts of this walk wasn't necessarily the places. It was the people. We meet friends from Uttan, old friends, altar servers, confirmation students and people I've known from different parts of parish life. There are moments where the walk suddenly stops being about the destination and becomes about simply meeting people and catching up. Some friendships are unexpected. Some are old. And some are the kind that you know you'll remember for a very long time. 🛺 AND YES… THAT RICKSHAW DRIVER 😂 At Patan Bunder, something happened involving a rather crazy rickshaw driver. I'll let you watch that part and decide for yourself. 😂 Any lawyers watching this? I'm kidding… mostly. 😭 🦀 THE CRAB At one point during the walk, I spotted something that immediately caught my attention. A CRAB. And my first thought was basically: "I want to eat this." 😂🦀 Welcome to Uttan. 🌊 PATAN BUNDER & BHOTODI We continue through Patan Bunder, eventually making our way towards Bhotodi Bunder and crossing the Bhotodi Bridge. These areas give you another glimpse of the coastal and village character of Uttan.
