Noura Mint Seymali - Millennium Stage (November 15, 2019)

Noura Mint Seymali and her boundless voice bend the arc of Moorish musical tradition. She transforms it for a modern, global audience, and safeguards a centuries old literary and artistic tradition inscribed on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Her performance is part of Artistic Freedom Initiative's RADICAL RECITATIONS arts festival, which celebrates the right to artistic freedom of expression.  This year, AFI has partnered with Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage and others to bring you performances both powerful and personal by renowned, revolutionary international artists NOURA MINT SEYMALI (Mauritania), TOTO KISAKU (Congo), and KING RAAM (Iran/Canada).
