Recording of Flourishing Network July '23 Meeting Kristin Maczko works at the intersection of psychology and organizational impact. She holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience and spent 15 years at Google, where she served as the Director of Employee Mental Health and Wellbeing. In this meeting, she will present on Workplace Burnout: Systemic Factors. Maczko argues that burnout is often viewed as an individual issue, with self-care prescribed as the solution. However, she believes that burnout is actually an emerging problem rooted in interpersonal networks, and should be addressed collectively. Later, Monica Parker will present Wonder: Our Most Powerful Emotion and Why We Need It Now. Monica, author of The Power of Wonder, will share her perspective on wonder and explore how it helps us thrive at work, school, and home. She will also discuss the benefits of wonder and how we can cultivate it in our own lives. 00:00-03:02 Welcome and Introduction 03:03-07:22 Background on Burnout 07:23-16:08 What is Causing Burnout is Large Organizations? 16:09-18:06 Traits of Organizations with High Rates of Burnout 18:07-22:15 What Can We Do? 22:15-27:32 Example of Network Level Approach 27:33-32:50 Summary and Questions 32:51-37:01 Wonder: Our Most Powerful Emotion and Why We Need it Now 37:02-40:03 Background of Monica Parker and Wonder 40:02-44:13 Watch 44:14-50:09 Wonder 50:10-53:36 Absorption 52:37-56:00 Awe 56:01-59:00 Wonder At Work 59:01-1:03:00 Ways to Connect to Wonder 1:03:01-1:19:00 Questions 1:19:01-1:21:03 Announcements
