Scratch building a Ryan’s Rebel stick style R/C airplane: Episode 15, It’s time to build the final component of the Rebel, the fuselage. If you are goig to build this plane from the plans link below, there is a glitch, that you need to know about. The sides are actually 50 inches long, so if you cut the sides out of 48 inch ⅛ balsa… you are going to come up 2 inches short. I fixed this by adding a few inches to the tip of the rear/stabilizer end of the side… a quick butt joint to make up the small length. You will see this in the video. Today I am gluing on the doubler so that we can get ready to start filling out the formers and other interior parts. Make sure you concentrate on making a left side and a right side former. Two lefts don’t make it right…. Hahaha… If you have questions please add them in a comment below. Tools and glues used in this series: Amazon affiliate links https://amzn.to/2Sc6KNr Razor saw and mitre box to make precision, straight, small kerf cuts https://amzn.to/37yk4Bm sandable finish resin. This is the stuff for fiberglassing. https://amzn.to/2vmW0Db 15 minute epoxy. Use for sticking stuff together, firewalls, landing gear plates, hardwood parts. Can be used with fiberglass, but you’re not going to like it. Not sandable. https://amzn.to/2T0uhSB Scroll saw, the best tool of a scratch builder https://amzn.to/36gTtI2 Master Airscrew Razor Plane https://amzn.to/2uaV8Rt Black & Decker hand sander. https://amzn.to/2Y93QL7 Magnets like the ones I used in this video 100 count, seems like a lot, but more is better when the project is big. https://amzn.to/374eXsJ Master Airscrew Balsa Stripper, make your own high quality sticks from common balsa sheets.
