200 Dollar Guitar THEN vs NOW | Lovings Guitar

I talk about my journey from Gibson guitars and custom-built instruments to the affordable guitars I trusted on stage. I share why I brought that quirky old Hagström to Berklee, why I recorded with it, and why a guitar doesn't have to be perfect to become part of your story. Today, I can pick up a modern affordable guitar like my ST1 SPR and honestly say I would feel completely confident taking it to a professional gig or into a studio. But this isn't really about which guitar is better. It's about value. A guitar can have expensive pickups, famous names, premium materials, or a legendary headstock—and still not mean as much to you as the guitar that makes you want to pick it up and play. The guitar doesn't represent you. You bring it to life when you play it. So whether your guitar cost $200 or $2,000, whether it carries a famous name or no name at all, pick it up and play your damn best. Let them witness you. Welcome to LOVINGS GUITAR, where I like to talk about guitars and how they move me. 00:00 — What Makes a Guitar Valuable? 01:49 — Why This Guitar Means Something to Me 03:26 — The Gibson I Regret Selling 04:44 — When Expensive Didn't Mean Better 06:46 — Am I Sponsored by Harley Benton? 08:07 — A $200 Guitar Back in 1979 09:46 — The Guitar I Brought to Berklee 10:59 — Why I Recorded With This Guitar 12:02 — What $200 Gets You Today 14:05 — My Old 1962 Hagström 15:18 — Noisy Pickups and a Crazy Whammy Bar 16:04 — How Guitar Manufacturing Changed 19:44 — Why I Love Modern Affordable Guitars 20:16 — Gibson Value vs Personal Value 22:17 — The Cheap Guitars I Played on Stage 23:42 — What Does “Cheap Guitar” Really Mean? 25:00 — Why Imperfect Guitars Can Inspire You 28:36 — The Guitar Doesn't Represent You 29:00 — Play Your Damn Best 30:35 — Let Them Witness You 32:20 — Maintaining Your Guitar 35:22 — Experience Doesn't Make Me the Authority 37:38 — The LOVINGS GUITAR Community 38:52 — Be Kind to Yourself ▶️ THIS IS NOT A GEAR SHOW https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list... 🎸 Harley Benton Is So Loved    • Why Harley Benton Guitars are so loved.   🎸Guitar Mods & Explorations    • Guitar Mods & Exploratories   ▶️ LOVINGS GUITAR – MENTOR SERIES https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list... 🔔 Subscribe to LOVINGS GUITAR    / @lovingsguitar   👉 Comment: Have you ever blamed a guitar that just needed attention? 👉 Share this with a player who’s stuck blaming their gear. ☕ SUPPORT THE CHANNEL If you enjoy what Lovings Guitar does and want to help support the channel: Patreon   / lovingsguitar   Buy Me A Coffee https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lovingsg... #LovingsGuitar #BudgetGuitar #CheapGuitar #GuitarPlayer #ElectricGuitar #GuitarJourney
