One Neighborhood, Many Eras | Walking Budapest’s Százados Quarter 4K

This walk takes us through the Százados Quarter, one of Budapest’s lesser-known urban areas in District 8. Within just a few streets, more than a century of Budapest’s history appears side by side: small ground-floor homes with hidden gardens, old courtyard housing, the historic Százados Road Artists’ Colony, late-20th-century apartment buildings, modern offices, busy roads and a major railway junction. Starting near Puskás Ferenc Stadion metro station, I walked along Kerepesi Road, Asztalos Sándor Street, Stróbl Alajos Street, the path-like Törökbecse Street, Hős Street, Strázsa Street, Osztály Street, Tisztes Street, Százados Road, Hungária Boulevard and Salgótarjáni Road. The walk ends on a railway overpass, looking back over the neighborhood and the railway tracks just as a train passes below. This is not a postcard-perfect Budapest route. It is a fascinating piece of the everyday city: layered, imperfect and full of contrasts.
