Join us on a peaceful walk through Cornwall, following a beautiful lesser-known route near Treverbyn, Dobwalls. Treverbyn has a history stretching back more than 900 years, with the manor recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. The surrounding valleys were shaped by the rivers and the people who lived and worked alongside them. Over the centuries, the area supported farming, woodland industries and tin working, with water from the rivers used to power mills and other workings. The Two Valleys route passes through this historic landscape, following the River Neot and River Fowey through woodland and valley scenery. One of its notable features is Treverbyn Bridge, a medieval packhorse bridge dating from around 1412. The woods and valleys therefore form part of a landscape where natural features and centuries of human activity have existed side by side. Today, much of this history is woven quietly into the landscape. The woodland, rivers and old paths give glimpses of a time when the valleys were working environments as well as places of natural beauty, with bridges, mills and mining remains reflecting the communities that once depended on them. Walking through Treverbyn Woods and the Two Valleys today, it is possible to experience that same landscape at a slower pace, following the rivers through woodland that has continued to change while retaining traces of the people and industries that shaped it.
