If I were starting Brazilian jiu-jitsu again in my 30s or 40s, I would approach it very differently. You may have a career, a family and a body that doesn’t recover like it did at 20—but that doesn’t mean you can’t become highly skilled. It means you need to be more intentional about how you train. In this video, I explain how I would choose a school, structure my weekly training, build an escape-first foundation, select techniques that can serve me for the next decade, improve my strength and conditioning, and avoid wasting years trying to learn everything at once. This is not a promise that following this roadmap will earn you a blue belt. Every academy and instructor has different standards, and your coach determines when you are ready for promotion. This is simply how I would organize my development if I were beginning again after 30. #BJJ #JiuJitsu #BJJAfter30
