Budapest during Christmas is one of those European cities that completely comes alive in winter. 🇭🇺🎄
In this **Global Vlogger Budapest travel vlog**, I explore the city during Christmas market season, staying at **UP Hotel Budapest on Csengery Street**, which turned out to be a great base for walking around the city and reaching many of Budapest’s major attractions. The hotel is located in Budapest’s 6th District near Hunyadi Square, with easy access to public transportation and popular central neighborhoods.
From festive Christmas markets filled with lights, music, local food, desserts, and seasonal treats to some of Budapest’s most famous landmarks, this trip was a mix of history, culture, architecture, and incredible winter atmosphere.
Some of the highlights in this vlog include:

🎶 Holiday music, lights, and festive atmosphere
One of the best parts of visiting Budapest in winter is the Christmas market experience. The city fills with wooden stalls selling handmade gifts, local foods, hot drinks, sweets, ornaments, and traditional Hungarian specialties.
The *Advent Basilica Christmas Market* in front of St. Stephen’s Basilica is one of Budapest’s biggest holiday attractions, featuring nearly 100 local craft vendors, food stands, a large Christmas tree, light projections, and seasonal entertainment.
Food is also a huge part of the Budapest experience. Around the markets you’ll find grilled sausages, roasted meats, hearty Hungarian dishes, chimney cake, pastries, desserts, and plenty of warm drinks to help with the winter cold.
We also crossed over to the Buda side of the city to explore **Castle Hill and Matthias Church**, where the historic architecture and elevated views give you a completely different perspective of Budapest.
Back on the Pest side, the *Hungarian Parliament Building* along the Danube is one of the most impressive buildings in the city, while *St. Stephen’s Basilica* is another must-see stop, especially during the Christmas season when the surrounding square becomes part of the holiday celebration.
Budapest is a city that is easy to experience on foot, but the metro, tram, and trolley network also makes it simple to move between neighborhoods. UP Hotel Budapest is about a five-minute walk from the M1 metro and nearby tram connections, which made exploring the city even easier.
If you’re planning a **Budapest Christmas trip**, winter vacation in Hungary, or your first visit to Budapest, this vlog gives you a look at the food, culture, Christmas markets, hotel experience, architecture, history, and everyday atmosphere of one of Central Europe’s most beautiful cities.
