We start by playing the unmixed beat, then pull all the faders down. From there, we build up the mix by: Setting drum levels first, then panning the drums. Adding instrument levels and balancing them with the drums. Bussing the drums for compression and subtle saturation to give them that punchy feel. Bussing the instruments for light compression to keep everything cohesive. Adding reverb to different signals for depth and space.
