Want to test your INAV configs, autolaunch, and waypoint missions without risking a real crash? Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) simulation is the answer.
In this video, I walk through the complete process of connecting a physical flight controller directly to X-Plane 11. By wiring up an ELRS receiver to a simulator-enabled FC, X-Plane can feed fake GPS, barometer, and magnetometer data directly to the board. The physical hardware on my desk processes the flight dynamics and RC inputs from my RadioMaster Pocket, while the simulator renders the environment.
This entire setup is running smoothly on a Dell G15 laptop on Windows 11, proving you don't need a massive desktop rig to run high-quality drone engineering simulations.
