Melissa Jefferson-Wooden just delivered one of the fastest 200-meter performances in history. Running into a -0.6 m/s headwind, she clocked an incredible 21.47 at the Ultimate Championship, defeating Gabby Thomas by three tenths of a second and producing the fastest women's 200m time of 2026. She did it after already winning the 100m in 10.62 the night before, meaning she completed four championship races in roughly 26 hours. But the biggest story is where 21.47 puts her in history. Only Florence Griffith-Joyner's 21.34 and Shericka Jackson's 21.41 and 21.45 are faster, putting Jefferson-Wooden just 13 hundredths away from a world record that has stood since 1988. We break down the race, the headwind, her incredible workload, her rise from Paris 2024 to the top of the sport, and why the next 200m could be one of the most anticipated races in sprinting. #MelissaJeffersonWooden #TrackAndField #200m #SprintNews #WorldAthletics
