About the Project: Sustainable urban development and the preservation of wetlands are sometimes seen as polarising concepts. This project offers a solution, by exploring the integration of architecture with delicate wetland environments. This project optimises building forms, to promote walkability and minimise their impact on the environment by utilising Agent-Based Modelling (ABM). The design uses an ETFE-enveloped, lightweight wooden structure to create a commercial, recreational, research, and educational complex that enhances the ecosystem of the wetland. Overall, the project, Bio-Sponge Cityscapes, focuses on sustainability and making the most of the wetland experience.
