The New Iveco Acco - Monash Green-Waste

You all would of seen the video I chucked up a couple of weeks back now of the two new demo units parked up at Iveco, this time we get to watch the Bucher unit in action. Lucky for me my local contractor (Solo Reseource Recovery) had the privilege to be the first ones to test the new Acco out. Starting off in Manningham this truck moved over to Monash for the week where it will continue it's tour to various different companies here in Victoria and Interstate I would assume. The truck was allocated to Monash Green-Waste and was to only be driven by certain drivers. It took a few goes to look for it but I managed to finally cross paths with it on a Wednesday morning in Glen Waverley. Last year Iveco released the future Acco cab that will replace the old shape but still keep it's title as an Acco. I'm sure many by now you more see it as an Acco Stralis but. The cab now has a more wider and narrower shape but lacks room inside which some drivers have not liked. Things such as the lack of space inside, 3 steps as opposed to 2 and other little Incab/design features which need looking at perhaps. It boasts a brand new European Cursor 9 Engine paired up with an Allison Auto Gear Box with a horsepower rating of 310. This new truck is intact heavier with an overall tare of 13.8 and is slightly heavier than a Volvo FE. The inside definitely doesn't look nothing like the current cab and has a very European truck feel to it but could be improved IMO. Didn't look like their would be enough room in the cab to fit things like the Joystick consol or a PLC box even without a spot to put your bag in. Personally I don't like this truck and I believe it may not be as successful as the current cab has been but improvements will no doubt be made and we shall what the end result will be. But nothing will beat your classic Cummins ISC/ISL combo with the Allison Auto which has been an iconic duo for International and Iveco over the years. To the Bucher part of the truck, this truck was fitted with the recent Gen6 model which is all operated out of a screen in the truck, it does look pretty flash but do we need such safisticated technology to pick up a bin from the kerb? Despite the plastic Hydraulic Oil Tank which is a pretty good setup I reckon the GenV was a bit more better simpler model. One thing that was pointed out is that you could only use one feature on the arm at a time on the Gen6 but maybe that can be avoided by disabling some interlocks? Bit of a shame the current cab shape will no longer be in the future and sad to see an Aussie Icon get taken away. From the heavy Spec Accos such as the 3070's or the T Lines to your standard G cabs it has come a long way and I reckon this new Acco may not cut it for some people! You will have also noticed by now that since the current cab is going to be discontinued there are many companies out there that are buying the old cab like savagers now before it goes. Some companies who haven't had an Acco in their fleets for ages but suddenly buying them left right and centre before it's all history ahah! Yes I know I repeated a clip...
