Carrie: Season 1 Episode 4 - DRAMATIC ARTS (Recap/Review)

Well, the time has finally come for Mike Flanagan’s Carrie: The Series. And we're gonna be honest with you guys: we were not looking forward to this one. One might even say… we were dreading it. There just wasn’t much about the source material—or its many, many adaptations—that made us feel like Carrie was a story that desperately needed to be explored yet again. Let alone stretched out to television length and viewed through a modern lens. And honestly? Were we really clamoring for another overbearing religious zealot villain from Samantha Sloyan? No tea, no shade. We love Sam Sloy. ❤️ But at a certain point… enough has to be enough. So we made our peace with skipping this one. And then, naturally, the first batch of reviews came out. And—surprise, surprise—people were really digging it. Apparently this new take brings a fresh angle, a more nuanced tone, and enough new ideas to make it feel like something more than just another ill-fated trip to the prom. Well… one thing led to another. After six-plus hits in a row, Mike Flanagan has officially earned our loyalty. So we figured we owed him at least one episode. And now that we've watched it? The short answer is yes. It was interesting enough to keep watching. And, apparently, interesting enough for us to cover the rest of the series. So come find out what Wil and Kristin thought of the premiere of Carrie: The Series—and whether Mike Flanagan managed to make us eat our very skeptical words. #MikeFlanagan #Carrie Buy our book, Fairytale! https://www.amazon.com/Fairytale-Will...
