Relive 3 days of pure one-design racing at the 2026 Copa de España de J/80 in La Línea de la Concepción (28–30 August 2026)! ⛵🔥 Seven minutes of non-stop J/80 racing action set to an epic soundtrack, capturing every tight start, tactical wind shift, and mark rounding. Hosted by Club Náutico Bevelle and based out of Alcaidesa Marina, the championship went down to the wire across 7 races before being decided by just 1 single point in the final race! 🌊 THE CONDITIONS & THE RACECOURSE Day 1 (Friday, Aug 28): Building southerly winds with gusts up to 18 knots across 3 fast-paced races. Days 2 & 3 (Saturday & Sunday, Aug 29–30): Light, highly tactical Levante (6–8 knots) with constant pressure and direction shifts across 4 decisive races. Dynamic Course Management: Featuring Pretty Sailing's autonomous robotic race marks (MarkSetBot), allowing the Race Committee to rapidly adapt the course to the tricky Strait wind shifts and keep the competition ultra-fair. 🏆 THE SHOWDOWN Going into Sunday's final day, Embata 80, Península, and Ebro Navea were tied on points! After a nail-biting finale where Península took the bullet in Race 7 and Aquaholic wedged into 3rd ahead of Ebro Navea, Iñigo Jáuregui’s Embata 80 (featuring Olympic gold & silver medalist and 2011 World Sailor of the Year Iker Martínez) claimed the 2026 Copa de España title by a single point! 📊 FINAL STANDINGS – COPA DE ESPAÑA DE J/80 2026 (TOP 12) 🥇 1st – Embata 80 (CN Hondarribia) | Skipper: Iñigo Jáuregui (with Iker Martínez) 🥈 2nd – Península (CN Bevelle) | Owner: John Bassadone / Helm: Oliver Góngora (+1 pt) 🥉 3rd – Ebro Navea (RCMT Punta Umbría) | Skipper: Arturo Montes (+3 pts) 4️⃣ 4th – Aviador (RCM Sotogrande) | Gabriel Medem / Helm: Pablo Villar 5️⃣ 5th – GVS PAS (CN Bevelle) | Nacho Cifuentes / Helm: Rafa Díaz 6️⃣ 6th – Coñeta Fiestas Team (RC Mediterráneo) | María Fiestas / Helm: José María Guerrero 7️⃣ 7th – Valkyrie (Pretty Sailing) | Amy Pretty / Helm: Monty Spindler 8️⃣ 8th – Aquaholic (RCM Sotogrande) | José Couret & José Luis Aracil / Helm: Antonio Coronilla 9️⃣ 9th – Tacuarita (RCN La Línea) | Skipper: Horacio Cardarelli 🔟 10th – Nexum Capital (CM Linense) | Roberto Santa Cruz / Helm: Fico Jiménez Galeote 1️⃣1️⃣ 11th – Vértigo (Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club) | Skipper: Thomas Hillman 1️⃣2️⃣ 12th – Tres Mares (CN Bevelle) | Skipper: Raquel Retamero 🤝 EVENT CREDITS & PARTNERS Organized by Club Náutico Bevelle with the sponsorship of Alcaidesa Marina*, Gestión de Varaderos del Sur (GVS), Sunseeker Andalucía, La Ventana Discreta, *Pretty Sailing, Strait Magazine, and Alcaidesa Servicios SA, in collaboration with the Federación Andaluza de Vela (FAV), Asociación de Propietarios de J/80 de España, Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club (RGYC), Boat Haus, and Ayuntamiento de La Línea de la Concepción. 📰 Read the full regatta reports: J/80 Spain Official Report: https://www.j80spain.es/news/reader/1428 Strait Magazine Feature: https://www.straitmagazine.com/copa-e... 🔔 Subscribe for more J/80 race highlights, onboard 360° replays, and regatta debriefs!
