Mt Bromo : Hiking the crater of an active volcano

Located in Indonesia's Tengger mountains, Mt Bromo (Gunung Bromo) offers a spectacular short hike along its active crater. Starting the trip from Malang, a drive through the centre of a sandy plain called "Sea of Sand" (Segara Wedi or Lautan Pasir), a horse ride to the gate of the mountain, followed by a set of stairs leading to the crater of Mt Bromo where the magical track begins.
