We’re all part of one big, beautiful world – and Sonja Keerl wants our kids to experience it in a fun and safe way. That’s what she’s building at Unomundi. On the latest episode of “Human Release Notes,” the tech luminar discusses her journey from the trenches of content management to co-founding a mobile app startup focused on helping millions of curious kids become global citizens by improving cultural literacy – and trusted AI is a big part of the story. A CMS and product marketing veteran, Sonja also co-founded the MACH Alliance, an advocacy group that helped elevate the benefits of composable architectures. The Alliance is now focused on the evolution of agent-to-agent ecosystems and championing successful use cases and patterns for AI success. What's fascinating about Unomundi is how AI has made it possible for Sonja to realize her ambition to change the world. But it's not just the technology. As she explains in this clip, content, messaging, and storytelling “beat any old algorithm," and that's delivering the real value on a human level. We also discuss: ✅ How Una, the product’s mascot and guide, was co-created with kids to help reflect how they learn and engage with apps as digital natives. ✅ The jaw-dropping velocity of taking complex apps like Unomundi from whiteboard to prototype to production, and how AI has made the entire build part as much as 50 times faster than two years ago. She also shares how her team is leveraging multiple agents guided by people at every step. ✅ How AI accuracy and governance have become the bigger (and harder) parts of the journey, ensuring that the content in the app is factual, culturally respectful, unbiased, and age-appropriate. Establishing a system to validate and flag issues took months to get off the ground. “We often underestimate when we're working with AI, certainly as consumers, how much effort needs to go into getting the knowledge right, getting the processes right, and getting the guardrails right,” Sonja says. ✅ Why human review matters more than ever, and how onboarding a cultural anthropologist, a behavioral scientist, child psychologists, and a community of "fellows" has made all the difference when delivering a safe and compliant experience. Parents are also central to everything, and she explains how Unomundi ensures they have total control and awareness. Whether you’re a parent or a practitioner, this story demonstrates how AI can turn a big, world-changing idea into reality, and where AI fits in as both an accelerator and an obstacle. As Sonja reflects, mindset is everything – and perhaps the best illustration of that was launching their MVP as a “Minimum Lovable Product,” capturing how the little moments of delight really matter.
